Can you use your own Binance referral code?

Self-referral means trying to receive referral rewards from an account you own or control. Do not treat the absence of that exact phrase in a FAQ as permission. Section 4 of the Binance Referral Program Terms expressly lists multiple account registrations and circular referrals among prohibited conduct. The document identifies the Binance entities and jurisdictional scope to which it applies.

A referral commission, an account fee discount and a third-party cashback arrangement answer different questions: who receives a payment, when the trading fee changes, and who owes a later rebate. Start by identifying which arrangement you are being offered. This guide explains those distinctions and how to check your existing account without opening another account or placing a trade solely to test a reward.

Which document applies to your offer?

Read the referral terms linked from your own Binance service and account. Regional services may use different documents. Use the program FAQ to identify Lite or Pro, the account fee page for trading charges, and the specific offer terms for eligibility and any claimed rebate.

For a useful review, record the program name, account region, offer date, reward recipient and qualifying action. A general fee table does not establish that an outside provider has agreed to repay your fees. Likewise, an affiliate's advertised commission is not automatically the customer's discount.

The terms linked above describe reward revocation and disqualification for prohibited conduct. They do not make every shared household connection a proven violation, and this guide does not claim to know Binance's internal detection criteria. Ask support about the rule relevant to your actual situation.

How commissions differ from fee discounts and third-party rebates

  • Referral commissions are payments split between users (referrer/referee) based on qualifying referrals and are governed by the referral terms. They are not direct reductions of trading fees but rather rewards distributed from Binance’s commission structure.
  • Fee discounts (e.g., BNB fee-payment discounts, VIP tier discounts) reduce the fees charged on trades directly and are part of Binance’s fee schedule.
  • Third-party rebates are arrangements where an outside service returns a portion of fees to you. These are external to Binance and can be incompatible with Binance rules; confirm the legality and contractual safety before use.

Never rely on any arrangement that requires bypassing or evading the platform’s terms.

What Binance's own pages confirm (2026-10-12)

  • The referral code is fixed at registration. Binance's sign-up guide says a linked referral code cannot be modified later. There is no official way to switch it to the code of another account you own.
  • Lite and Pro pay differently. Lite pays one-off rebate vouchers once conditions are met. Pro pays an ongoing commission from the referred user's trading fees, so self-referral concerns centre on trying to earn Pro commission on your own trading.
  • Identity verification is the anchor. New users must complete verification before depositing or trading. Several accounts belonging to one person and referring each other can be identified through that verification data.
  • TRADE PAYBACK terms are separate. TRADE PAYBACK's rebate is its own arrangement, separate from the exchange's official referral or VIP programmes. Eligibility and rates are shown on our exchange page and confirmed per account through support; this article does not promise any official exchange benefit. Binance exchange page

Practical checks to perform before any referral activity

  1. Confirm account verification: Check whether your Binance account has completed KYC and whether the account type and region qualify for referral participation. The referral program applies only to eligible users as stated in the terms and FAQs.
  1. Review transaction and fee history: Do not create new trades to test referral benefits. Instead, inspect existing transaction records and fee histories in your account to see how referral or commission entries would appear. This protects you from creating behavior that could be construed as manipulative.
  1. Check the account relationship: establish whether the offer involves a genuinely separate new customer or an account you own. Shared connections alone do not establish the outcome of a support review; follow the applicable program terms.
  1. Read advertising/marketing rules: If you plan to promote referral links, ensure your content complies with Binance’s promotion rules in the Referral Terms (no misleading claims about earnings or guaranteed returns).
  1. Confirm regional rules: Some jurisdictions have differing rules or separate programs (e.g., Binance.US). Refer to region-specific FAQ pages when applicable.

Check eligibility without guessing how detection works

An account warning or missing reward should be investigated using the notice, the program rules and the account's own records. We have not verified an internal fraud-detection model, device-fingerprint threshold or automatic penalty sequence. Those details should not be presented as facts.

If two accounts exist by mistake, explain that to official support before using a referral link between them. Include the relevant account references only through the official support channel. Do not create a third account to test a theory, change identity information to obtain a benefit, or assume that an absence of warnings confirms eligibility.

Safer alternatives to self-referral

  • Use legitimate human referrals: Ask a friend or colleague to sign up with your referral link. This is the normal, supported use-case of the program.
  • Participate in official promotions: Binance periodically runs official promotions and events with explicit, published rules. Participation still depends on the published eligibility conditions.
  • Explore fee-based discounts: Consider legitimate fee reductions such as BNB fee-payment discounts, VIP tier discounts, or officially recognized partner rebates. Distinguish these from referral commissions: fee discounts reduce your transaction cost directly; referral commissions share rewards between accounts.
  • Evaluate third-party rebate services cautiously: A third-party rebate promise needs its own terms and evidence of eligibility. Verify the provider and ensure there is no violation of Binance’s policies.

Practical risk scenarios and how to respond

Scenario A: Your referral reward disappears after you attempted to refer a self-owned account. Response: Collect your account transaction and referral logs, then file a support ticket including time-stamped screenshots. Do not create additional accounts or trades to "test" the system while waiting for the support response.

Scenario B: Your account receives a warning or temporary restriction. Response: Follow the steps in the support response, provide requested KYC or documentation, and do not attempt to bypass the restriction. Preparing a clear timeline and documentation of legitimate activity helps in dispute resolution.

Scenario C: You were offered a third-party rebate for using your own referral link. Response: Avoid participating until you verify that the third-party arrangement does not conflict with Binance’s terms. Third-party agreements may expose you to account risk.

Step-by-step checklist before taking action

  1. Read the latest Referral Program Terms and the relevant FAQ pages.
  2. Verify that your account and any other involved accounts have proper KYC and are in compliant regions.
  3. Inspect past transaction and referral logs; document them before taking any referral-related actions.
  4. If unsure, use legitimate human referrals or official promotions instead of attempting a self-referral.
  5. When in doubt, open a support ticket and ask for clarification rather than attempting potentially noncompliant behavior.

FAQ

Is self-referral explicitly allowed by Binance?

The applicable terms, rather than the presence or absence of a FAQ label, are the reference. Read the prohibited-conduct clause linked at the start of this guide and do not interpret silence about a label as permission.

What immediate steps should I take if my referral reward is removed?

First, do not attempt to fix the issue by creating new accounts or trades. Instead, gather all evidence—screenshots of referral pages, transaction logs, and any communications—and open a support ticket with Binance. Provide clear timestamps and explanations and wait for the official review.

Can I safely use a third-party rebate service to get referral-like benefits?

Exercise extreme caution. Third-party rebate services are not controlled by Binance and may conflict with Binance’s terms. Verify the third party’s legitimacy and ensure their model does not require you to violate Binance policies.

Where can I find the official referral rules and the most recent updates?

Always consult Binance’s official Referral Program Terms, the Referral FAQ pages, and any region-specific FAQ (for example, Binance.US has its own FAQ). The core links used in this guide are below.
