Can I add a missed Bybit affiliate code after registering?

The documented exception concerns a first affiliate code on an eligible main account with no existing code, within 14 days of registration. Check account status, timing and code type before treating it as a change to an existing relationship.

Does the exception apply to you?

Work through these questions in order:

  1. Has it been more than 14 days since you registered? If so, the manual process is not available under the published terms.
  2. Did you enter any code at registration — even a friend's ordinary referral code? If so, your account already has a code and falls outside the exception.
  3. Are you applying from your Main Account? Bybit states that only the Main Account can add an invitation code manually; sub-accounts cannot.
  4. Is it a market maker or institutional account? These are not supported.
  5. Could regulation block it? Bybit notes that an account may be unable to join the affiliate community entered for regulatory reasons, and points to its affiliate terms. Your region can change the outcome.
  6. Is it an affiliate invitation code? The process supports only codes from Bybit's Affiliate Program. A referral code from another ordinary user (Referral Program) is not supported.

Passing every question still does not guarantee approval. Bybit makes the final decision.

The general rule and the conditional exception

What Bybit's help saysScope
General ruleReferral codes cannot be added, removed or changed after registrationMost cases
Conditional exceptionAn affiliate invitation code can be added manually within 14 days of registration, only for accounts with no registered affiliate or referral codeOnly accounts meeting every condition

Bybit's article on adding and checking a registered affiliate code explains that users sometimes miss an affiliate's or KOL's invitation code at registration, so Bybit supports adding it manually within 14 days of registering. It states that the feature is only open to accounts with no registered affiliate or referral code within 14 days after registration, and that requests after 14 days are not accepted. Market maker and institutional accounts are not supported.

The two statements do not contradict each other. The exception lets an account with no code at all receive a code for the first time. Changing an existing code is still not allowed.

Referral and affiliate are different programmes

Bybit runs a referral programme for ordinary users inviting friends and a separate affiliate programme for affiliates and KOLs. The 14-day manual process is described for affiliate invitation codes. Bybit's Referral Program FAQ notes that referral tasks and rewards change over time, so do not base a decision on a reward amount or promotion you saw at some earlier date.

Why the affiliate ID may not appear

After adding a code, your Account Info page may not show the affiliate ID at all. Bybit explains that certain affiliate IDs may not be visible there because of the affiliate partner's privacy settings, and suggests recalling where you originally received the invitation code. A missing ID on that page is therefore not, on its own, proof of a wrong link. Keep the link or message where you got the code; it is your best evidence later.

Opening a second account to "reset" attribution deserves a special warning. It can create duplicate-account problems at identity verification and may breach the exchange's terms.

What to record before and after applying

  • Your registration date, from the account screen or welcome email
  • The date you applied and the invitation code you entered
  • The reason you entered on the request form and a screenshot right after submitting
  • The link or message where you received the invitation code
  • Any Bybit support ticket numbers

With these, a TradePayback attribution check is quick. Our displayed Bybit conditions are on the Bybit detail page, and other exchanges are on the comparison page.

Timing matters more than people expect

Because the window is counted from registration, not from your first deposit or first trade, it can close before you have even started trading. If you registered on the 1st and only noticed the missing code on the 20th, the manual process is already unavailable even though the account is brand new in practice. If you are helping a friend sign up, the simplest protection is to confirm the code field before the registration is submitted.

A worked timeline

Suppose — hypothetically — you registered on 3 March without any code, verified your identity on 10 March and noticed the missing code on 12 March. You are on day 9, your account has no code, and it is a personal main account. You meet the published conditions, so you can try the manual process and keep a screenshot of the result. If instead you noticed on 20 March, day 17, the published process would no longer accept the request, and the right step is a plain support enquiry rather than a new account.

Reading the outcome

If the request is accepted, note the date and keep the screenshot. If it is declined, accept that decision; a declined request is not something TradePayback can override, and repeated submissions will not change the published conditions.

Follow the official account route

Bybit lists the web route as Profile, Account, Account Info, then Join an Affiliate’s Community. If that entry is absent, the eligibility criteria may not be met. The form asks for the affiliate invitation code and a reason for adding it; read the disclosure before submitting. Check Account Info after a successful application. A missing entry is not a reason to use another account or an unofficial form.

FAQ

Can I change my referral code after registering?

Under Bybit's general account FAQ, a registered code cannot be added, removed or changed. The only exception is adding an affiliate invitation code for the first time to an account with no code, within 14 days of registration — and approval is still not guaranteed.

It has been more than 14 days. Is there any option?

The manual process does not accept requests after 14 days. You can contact Bybit support, but nobody can promise the outcome. Do not open a new account to bypass it.

My Account Info page does not show the affiliate ID. Is it wrong?

Not necessarily. Bybit says some affiliate IDs are not shown there because of partners' privacy settings. Use the place you received the code as your reference.
