Toobit Fees and Discounts: VIP and Zero-Fee Spot Exceptions

The phrase “zero-fee spot” is not a complete description of Toobit's trading costs. The current official schedule shows zero maker and taker fees for the general Spot market, but it explicitly excludes Innovation Zone spot pairs. Futures remain subject to VIP and maker/taker rates, and a partially filled order is charged on each executed portion. A reliable cost audit therefore starts with the product, market zone, execution role, and VIP level—not with one headline percentage.
This guide uses the Toobit fee schedule, futures-fee calculation article, and VIP page checked on October 14, 2026. Rates and tier requirements can change, so an old screenshot is not a contract for a later fill. Use the Toobit exchange page for the platform overview and the guides index for other exchange questions.
Classify the market before reading a rate
Toobit's official fee page separates Futures, Spot, and Innovation Zone. The current table lists 0.0000% maker and 0.0000% taker fees for general Spot at VIP 0 through VIP 6. It then states that Innovation Zone spot pairs are excluded from that policy and follow a separate schedule. The current VIP 0 Innovation Zone rates are 0.0750% maker and 0.1000% taker.
For Futures, the current VIP 0 schedule lists 0.0200% maker and 0.0600% taker. Higher tiers have their own values. Never infer “free” merely from the word spot, and never infer maker status merely from the word limit. Confirm the pair's market zone and the execution record.
| Cost question | Official schedule | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| General Spot | Currently 0.0000% maker and taker | Assuming every spot pair is permanently free |
| Innovation Zone Spot | Separate VIP maker/taker schedule | Applying general Spot zero-fee policy |
| Futures | Rate depends on VIP and execution role | Treating leverage as the fee-rate selector |
| Partial fill | Fee applies to each filled portion | Charging or forecasting the unfilled amount |
| Limit order | Can be taker if it matches immediately | Calling every limit fill maker |
Even when the trading fee is zero, spread, slippage, futures funding, withdrawal fees, and third-party payment costs can remain. Keep those lines separate.
How Toobit assigns the VIP level
The fee schedule says the account receives the highest tier reached through any of three routes: account asset balance, 30-day futures volume, or 30-day spot volume. These are alternative qualifying routes, not three requirements that must all be met. The official example gives VIP 3 when the balance qualifies for VIP 2 but the spot volume qualifies for VIP 3.
VIP levels update daily at 00:00 UTC. Sub-accounts share the main account's VIP level and fee structure. The level in force when an order executes determines that execution's rate. This means the current dashboard does not necessarily prove the tier used on yesterday's fill.
For every disputed charge, preserve:
- Fill timestamp and timezone.
- VIP level displayed for the main account at that time.
- Product and market zone.
- Maker or taker role for each fill.
- Filled value and deducted fee currency.
Tier thresholds and rates can be changed by the exchange. Use the latest official schedule for a new estimate and the historical execution evidence for an old trade.
Maker and taker are execution results
Toobit's calculation guide defines a maker as an execution that adds liquidity to the order book. A taker removes existing liquidity. A limit order that rests before matching is generally maker, but a limit order submitted at a price that crosses the book can execute immediately as taker. Market orders are generally taker. The account's fill history is the deciding evidence.
The basic futures formula is:
Trading fee = actual filled value × maker or taker rate applied to the fill
A fee is charged only when an order fills. A completely canceled, unfilled order has no trading fee. If one order fills in several pieces, Toobit calculates the fee for each execution. The guide also states that futures trading fees are deducted from position margin.
This execution-level model matters when the VIP level or fee schedule changes between fills. Do not force one rate onto an entire order without checking the timestamps.
Worked futures examples using the current table
Example one assumes a VIP 0 account opens 10,000 USDT of futures notional as taker and later closes the same notional as taker.
- Entry: 10,000 × 0.0600% = 6 USDT
- Exit: 10,000 × 0.0600% = 6 USDT
- Round-trip trading fees: 12 USDT
If both executions are recorded as maker at the current VIP 0 rate of 0.0200%, each costs 2 USDT and the round trip costs 4 USDT. The 8 USDT difference does not account for the opportunity cost or adverse price movement that may occur while waiting for a resting order.
Example two is a partial fill. A VIP 0 taker order for 10,000 USDT fills 4,000 and 6,000 in two executions. The fees are 2.4 and 3.6 USDT, totaling 6 USDT. If only 4,000 fills and the remainder is canceled, only the executed 4,000 belongs in the fee calculation.
Example three separates leverage from notional. If 1,000 USDT of margin supports a 10,000 USDT filled position, the fee base is the 10,000 USDT filled value, not the 1,000 USDT margin. Toobit's official guide says leverage does not directly change the fee rate. It can, however, allow a larger notional exposure, which increases the amount multiplied by that rate.
These examples cover trading fees only. A more complete perpetual-futures cost ledger is:
Total cost = entry fee + exit fee + funding paid − funding received + spread and slippage + other service costs
Use the funding record for the specific contract and timestamp. Do not insert a generic funding assumption into the account result.
Audit the general Spot zero-fee rule and the exception
Before placing a spot order, identify whether the pair is in the general Spot market or the Innovation Zone. A pair carrying an Innovation Zone classification does not receive the general zero-fee treatment. At the current VIP 0 rates, that separate schedule is 0.0750% maker and 0.1000% taker.
Suppose a VIP 0 user buys 5,000 USDT of an Innovation Zone asset as taker. The trading fee is 5 USDT. A 5,000 USDT execution on an eligible general Spot pair under the current zero-fee schedule has a displayed trading fee of 0 USDT. Both executions can still have spread and slippage, so their economic acquisition costs are not necessarily equal.
After the trade, inspect the order history and asset ledger. If the result differs from the estimate, collect the pair, zone, fill time, VIP tier, maker/taker role, fee currency, and actual deduction. “I saw zero spot fees” is not enough evidence to determine whether the Innovation Zone exception applied.
Distinguish VIP transfer from automatic tier calculation
Toobit's VIP page offers a separate transfer route for users who hold VIP status on another exchange. The application asks the user to log in for a UID, provide valid contact details, and upload a screenshot of 30-day trading history from the previous exchange. The page accepts PNG, JPEG, or JPG files up to 10 MB each and up to three images. It says the team will contact the applicant within three business days.
This review route is different from the automatic balance and volume calculation. Do not put a transferred or upgraded tier into a cost forecast until the tier actually appears on the Toobit account. The page's promotional language about matching or upgrading status describes the application, not proof that a particular account has already received the result.
Preserve the UID, submission time, reported 30-day period, uploaded evidence, support reply, and the time the new tier appears. That timeline determines which fills can use the changed rate.
Build an execution-level fee audit
Use one row per fill:
| Field | Record | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Order and fill ID | Account identifier | Lets support locate the execution |
| Timestamp | UTC and local time | Compares VIP refresh or rate changes |
| Product and zone | Futures, general Spot, Innovation Zone | Selects the correct schedule |
| Filled value | Executed notional | Fee formula input |
| Role | Maker or taker | Rate selector |
| VIP at execution | Historical displayed tier | Separates past from current tier |
| Expected fee | Filled value × official rate | Calculation result |
| Actual fee | Ledger deduction | Detects a discrepancy |
| Other cost | Funding, spread, withdrawal | Prevents category mixing |
For multiple fills, calculate and sum each expected fee. Check the fee currency and rounding unit. If the total still differs, send official support the fill IDs, screenshots, historical tier evidence, and the schedule used.
Keep discounts, campaigns, and cashback in separate columns
An official VIP fee rate, a temporary campaign, and an affiliate cashback arrangement are different mechanisms. VIP sets the account's execution rate. A campaign can have dates, regions, products, and account eligibility rules. Cashback can be a later settlement under a separate approved arrangement.
Do not add advertised percentages together as if they all reduce the same base instantly. First record the trading fee actually charged. Then subtract only a cashback amount that has been paid and can be matched to that activity. An expected future payment is not yet a realized cost reduction.
TRADE PAYBACK terms are separate from Toobit's official VIP schedule. Eligibility, payout timing, and any account-specific rebate must be verified from the applicable agreement and actual settlement record. This article does not invent or promise a contractual rate.
Why the ledger can differ from a pre-trade estimate
Several causes should be checked in order:
- The pair belongs to Innovation Zone rather than general Spot.
- A limit order crossed the book and executed as taker.
- The account's VIP level changed at 00:00 UTC.
- The order filled in several parts.
- The fee schedule changed before the execution.
- The comparison used margin instead of filled notional.
- Funding or another ledger item was confused with a trading fee.
- The fee currency and rounding method were ignored.
A disciplined audit changes one variable at a time. Start with the exact fill and reconstruct the applicable schedule; do not begin with a marketing banner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all Toobit spot trades free?
No. The current general Spot schedule is zero maker and taker, but Innovation Zone spot pairs are excluded and use a separate VIP schedule. Confirm the market classification of the pair.
Is every limit order a maker order?
No. A limit order can execute immediately against existing liquidity and be classified as taker. Use the maker/taker flag in the fill history.
Does higher leverage increase the fee rate?
The official calculation guide says leverage does not directly change the rate. A larger notional position created with the same margin can increase the fee amount because the formula uses filled value.
When does VIP update, and are sub-accounts separate?
The official schedule says VIP updates daily at 00:00 UTC and sub-accounts share the main account's VIP level and fee structure. The execution-time tier applies.
Final cost check
Classify the market, capture the execution role and VIP tier, and multiply the actual filled value by the applicable rate. Separate the general Spot zero-fee policy from Innovation Zone rates. For futures, calculate each fill and use notional rather than margin. Keep funding, spread, slippage, withdrawal costs, and later cashback in their own fields. Only the completed ledger comparison can show whether a headline discount reduced the account's real cost.
